Shipping Specialist, Baltimore Facility

Basic Purpose

The Shipping Specialist prepares, stages, loads shipments and completes related paperwork to ensure on time shipments. This position also assists in the physical inventory cycle counting process. NOTE: The hours for this position are 9 AM to 5:30 PM, Mondays through Fridays.

Responsibilities:

• Loads and unloads trucks properly and safely.
• Coordinates the arrival of trucks for outgoing shipments or incoming material with trucking companies and vendors.
• Manages finished products from production to packaging to shipment, and files all appropriate paperwork in a timely manner.
• Clears all orders from credit hold 2 weeks prior and has orders packaged and ready.
• Manages all shipping claims.
• Maintains organization of all finished products.
• Must be present and part of physical inventory processes, including preparation and material cycle counting.
• Performs any other duties as assigned or directed by Team Leader.
• Maintains good housekeeping and follows established safety procedures.
• Follows all policies, procedures, and work instructions including Employee Handbook, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Manufacturing Operating Procedures (MOPs), Job Safety Analysis (JSAs), and Safety Manual.
• Maintains awareness of individual contribution to and impact of the quality, safety, environmental, and product compliance policies and activities; reports all quality issues, unsafe acts, and unsafe conditions to the proper personnel.

Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or GED; or equivalent experience.
• 2 years warehouse and shipping experience required.
• Must have basic math skills.
• Ability to read, write, and follow oral and written instructions.
• Able to work in a team environment and interface with a diverse workforce.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. unassisted.
• Must be able to operate the following equipment: Forklift, Combi-Lift.
• Must have current and valid Driver’s License.
• Must be computer literate, including proficiency with Microsoft Office Products.
• Ability to use online real-time manufacturing control systems, including MAPICS or other current in-house computer processes.
• Ability to use various tools and measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, tape measure, dial indicator, and feeler gauges.
• Able to stand, walk, bend, stoop, and crouch for an 8-hour shift.
• Must be able to use hands and fingers to handle or feel machinery, equipment or parts and work near moving mechanical parts.
