What are the responsibilities and job description for the 1st Shift Layout - Ornamental Metal position at Tate Ornamental, Inc?
Tate Ornamental, Inc. is a family owned and operated company that has been in business since 1988. We pride ourselves on being a one-stop shop for design, fabrication, installation, and freight. We specialize in creating distinguished works of art from our fabrication of architectural metal, millwork, and stone. Our projects include stairways, railings, canopies, millwork, casework, stone and quartz. Ornamental metals include steel cold and hot roll, bronze/brass, stainless steel and aluminum.
We are seeking someone with experience in Ornamental Metal Layout to join the team in our Metal Division located in White House, TN. This position lays out the complete assembly using blueprints. If the complete assembly requires subassembly the fabricator attaches using a tack weld, screw, bolt or any means necessary. Items that a fabricator will build could range from monumental stairs and railings, straight and rolled ones.
Duties/ Responsibilities:
- Measures layout for subassemblies.
- Fabricates columns, posts, handrails, and stairs.
- Torch cuts metal stringers and guardrails.
- Operates cutting torch/handheld plasma.
- Reads blueprints.
- Other duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Ability to read a tape measurer.
- Ability to operate overhead crane/tow motor.
- Skilled mig/tig welding.
- Basic Math skills.
- Knowledge of hand tools and skilled in operating.
Education and Experience:
- 3-5 years of experience, preferred.
- High School Diploma or GED, preferred.
- Ornamental fabrication experience, preferred.
- Apprenticeship or technical training, preferred.
- Welding or precision sheet metal work is a plus.
- Pay will be commensurate with experience.
Physical Requirements:
- Must have enough manual dexterity and stability as required for precision work.
- Must be able to see details at close range.
- Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds at times.
