Description

The Learning & Development Manager operates as a highly collaborative professional who supports the Café and Catering Operations Team to ensure best in class hourly team member training, focusing on skill execution at the field level. As a partner to the Operations team, the Training Manager leads the development and deployment of training on new menu rollouts, new initiatives, and ongoing Café and Catering training. A successful Learning & Development Manager possesses a deep knowledge and understanding of Operations at Tatte, has a passion for teaching and developing, is highly organized and detailed oriented with the ability to independently manage multiple projects simultaneously and can communicate both orally and in writing at an elevated level. They understand and role model Tatte’s Brand Purpose, Mission and Values in all that they do. At times, this person will assist with other needs or special projects as necessary to ensure outstanding team member and guest experiences.

Summary Of Responsibilities

  • Serves as an in-café and catering subject matter expert for hourly training-related questions and needs. Is the L&D representative for hourly team member skill training.
  • Ensures the highest levels of training standards are offered at all Tatte cafés.
  • Acts as a partner to all levels of Operations and Support Team leadership, and formulates and provides Tatte-specific training, coaching and development of highly skilled team members who are aligned with Tatte’s brand purpose, mission, and core values.
  • Provides feedback of hourly training programs and menu rollouts performance to Operations, and L&D leadership by actively tracking status in the LMS system.
  • Works with the District Managers to identify ongoing training and development needs of high-potential hourly team members who may be in succession for elevated roles; assists as needed.
  • Supports Certified Trainer’s execution of all training to standards and are assigned for all trainees.
  • Works with Operations Leadership and VP of L&D on identifying and certifying hourly team members becoming part of the Certified Trainers program/Pro Team.
  • Engages in the formulation, development, and ongoing refinement of L&D material in partnership with VP of L&D and works with Operations leadership to implement necessary changes, as well as re-training agendas and formal validations.
  • Identifies gaps in training material; works with VP of L&D to make necessary revisions that address the gap, then trains/ validates new information to ensure understanding.
  • Identifies best practices, then advises the VP of L&D on the best and/or innovative L&D methods for potential dissemination across the company.
  • Executes new menu and initiatives training with Café and Catering Operations Team; reports on validations completion rates in the Tatte Passport.
  • Oversees all administrative tasks as assigned for the position.
  • Other duties and/or special projects as assigned.

Working Conditions / Essential Functions

  • Ability to work a flexible schedule based on business needs that include days, nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Availability and ability to work up to ten hour-plus shifts.
  • Ability to stand, sit, squat, or walk for extended periods of time. Able to walk up and down stairs.
  • Availability and ability to travel to cafés and the Support Office, as necessary.

Position Requirements

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Comfortable in public speaking (in person and zoom)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail and ability to project manage independently.
  • High integrity and professionalism.
  • A positive, can-do attitude and willingness to take on new learning.
  • High School education or equivalent.
  • High-volume restaurant leadership experience.
  • Ability to work well under pressure in a fast paced, ever changing work environment.
  • Ability to deliver hard and respectful conversations to people.
  • 1 year of successful People Management experience specifically around the hiring, training, mentoring and development of hourly team members.

Preferred Skills

  • Tatte manager for a minimum of 12 months
  • Fluency in Spanish and English is a bonus
  • College Degree in Business Management, HR, Teaching and/or commensurate operations leadership experience
