What are the responsibilities and job description for the Director of Collections & Accounts Receivable position at Tatum by Randstad?
We’re a fast-scaling professional services firm driven by a passion for tackling complex business challenges with clarity, strategy, and precision. As we grow, we’re investing in the strength of our internal teams—building a foundation that can support both scale and excellence. We're seeking a dynamic, hands-on leader to shape and drive our collections and AR function at a pivotal time in our journey.
The Opportunity
We’re looking for a Director of Collections & Accounts Receivable who will own and elevate the entire AR and collections function—from strategic planning to execution. This is a high-visibility leadership role with direct impact on cash flow, client relationships, and operational excellence. You’ll lead a growing team, develop scalable processes, and partner across departments to drive performance, reduce risk, and enhance client experience.
You’re right for this role if you’re a builder, a coach, and a strategic thinker with a strong pulse on AR best practices—and the energy to lead in a fast-paced, relationship-driven environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide strategic leadership over the entire accounts receivable and collections lifecycle, ensuring timely invoicing, effective collections, and accurate cash application
- Develop and implement AR policies, procedures, and performance metrics to support the company’s growth and revenue goals
- Build strong client relationships and serve as an escalation point for high-value or sensitive accounts, balancing diplomacy with financial stewardship
- Manage, mentor, and scale a high-performing AR/collections team; foster a culture of accountability, development, and collaboration
- Analyze AR data, monitor KPIs (e.g., DSO, aging trends, write-offs), and deliver actionable insights to finance and executive leadership
- Partner cross-functionally with Finance, Sales, Legal, and Customer Success to ensure accurate billing and smooth resolution of disputes
- Identify and drive automation opportunities and systems enhancements to improve efficiency, reporting, and cash forecasting
- Own the monthly close process for AR, and support audits, reconciliations, and compliance requirements as needed
What You Bring
- 7 years of progressive experience in collections, AR, or credit management, with at least 2 years in a leadership role
- Strong background in B2B professional services or consulting industries
- Exceptional client-facing communication skills with a tactful yet firm approach to collections
- Demonstrated ability to build scalable processes and implement tools or ERP systems (NetSuite, Salesforce, QuickBooks, or similar)
- Data-driven mindset with the ability to translate insights into action
- A collaborative, low-ego approach—comfortable influencing across teams and leading through complexity
- Proven ability to thrive in a high-growth, fast-paced setting with shifting priorities
What We Offer
- Competitive compensation with performance-based bonuses
- Comprehensive benefits, including health, dental, vision, and 401(k)
- Hybrid work flexibility and a modern, collaborative work culture
- A rare chance to build and lead a critical function at a high-growth firm
- Direct visibility to executive leadership and the opportunity to shape strategy
