PROJECT ACCOUNTANT
Our client a fast-growing manufacturing and construction company and is hiring a Project Accountant (Construction) for their growing business. This role supports the business lines by providing timely and accurate financial reporting and analysis and assistance to project teams for projects. The Senior Accountant/Project Accountant provides an initial level of compliance and checks-and-balances oversight for project specific financial transactions. This role is responsible for the project billing process, which includes verifying project costs, contract terms, and the point person for project team management to ensure accurate and timely recording of all project revenue and costs, The Project Accountant reports to the controller.
- Prepare and disburse timely payment to subcontractors.
- Create, update and close projects and finalize fixed assets accordingly.
- Complete month end journal entries and analysis in accordance with monthly close schedule: depreciation, fixed asset roll forward, disposals and retirements.
- Resolve subcontract queries efficiently and effectively resulting in the development of trust-based working relationships and communication with subcontractors and vendors.
- Perform accounting and technical compliance research and assist with implementing any new accounting pronouncements that are applicable to Company.
- Manage the monthly project forecast process
- Oversight and review of internal budget
- Update subcontractor pay when paid status, verify compliance prior to authorizing release of payment, ensure subcontractor payments are released timely according to contract terms
- Determine rate and cost moves, compile general information for monthly project billings, review project billings prepared by Project Manager to ensure accuracy and record the information in accounts receivable timely
- Assist the Controller in developing and maintaining processes and procedures to track all critical construction related metrics, milestones, and project progress
- Review and approve construction A/P clerk invoice batches and check runsDetermine construction related cash needs
- Assist the Controller with Financial Reporting and other ad-hoc reporting requests
Job Requirements:
- Preferred bachelor's degree in accounting with detailed knowledge of project accounting, contracts, AIA invoices and change order documents with at least 3 years’ experience in related industry
- A minimum of 4 years /accounting / finance experience, with working knowledge of project management and fixed assets.
- Preference given to candidates who have worked in a manufacturing environment and/or Public Accounting roles.
