Position Title: Quality Control Technician
Reports to: QC Manager
Position Description:
The Quality Control Inspector is responsible for ensuring that all products, kits, and work orders meet the company's quality standards by thoroughly confirming that proper procedures and processes are followed and documented. This involves inspecting outgoing shipments, comparing them with sales orders, documenting any discrepancies, and maintaining accurate records of quality, using quality control checklists, shop instructions, and QC documentation. This position requires a strong attention to detail, with a mindset of ensuring quality as a priority.
An ideal candidate for this position would have quality control experience in an assembly or manufacturing environment, with a strong attention to detail, focus on quality, with exceptional observational skills, and an understanding of the importance of maintaining quality of all products, processes, and document control. This candidate would possess a strong technical/mechanical aptitude to understand manufacturing processes and functions of products, allowing them to identify non-conformities, and the ability to concisely document all findings.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

- Compare all outgoing shipments with the corresponding sales orders to ensure accuracy and completeness.
- Review assembled kits and work orders to confirm they meet specified quality standards and customer requirements.
- Document any discrepancies between the shipment contents and the sales orders, notify the appropriate department for resolution.
- Ensure all documentation, including photos and written records, are accurately completed and saved in the designated location.
- Maintain detailed and organized records of all quality control activities and findings.
- Work closely with the shipping and production teams to address any quality issues or discrepancies.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors and management regarding any concerns related to shipment accuracy or potential risks.
- Assist in resolving quality issues by providing detailed documentation and collaborating with relevant departments.
- Participate in continuous improvement aimed at enhancing quality control processes and reducing the occurrence of discrepancies.
- Suggest improvements to documentation practices and procedures based on findings and best practices.
- Ensure compliance with all company quality standards, customer specifications, and regulatory requirements.
Supervision Responsibilities:
None
Organizational Responsibilities:
- Maintain quality standards throughout all departments of the company, heavily focused on manufacturing and shipping departments to ensure products are shipped to the customer correctly
- Work with Technician Staff to ensure products conform to quality checklists and have been assembled/manufactured properly according to shop instructions
- Document and report non-conformities to the corresponding departments, maintaining quality reports and documentation within the system to ensure transparency throughout the company.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Strong attention to detail and sharp observational skills, with the ability to identify discrepancies and non-conformities
- Excellent organizational skills and the ability to maintain accurate and consistent documentation, with an understanding of document control concepts
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, to present findings and work with various departments to resolve quality issues
- Quality mindset, prioritizing the quality of all products, with a clear understanding of the importance of maintaining quality control throughout all departments.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous experience in quality control, preferably in an assembly or manufacturing environment with an understanding of manufacturing processes.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and understanding how mechanical components interact with one another to accomplish their function(s).
- Knowledge of quality management systems/industry standards (i.e. ISO 9001:2015, IECEx/ATEX, CSA).
Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional training in quality control or related fields is preferred.
Travel:
- No regular travel is expected.
Computer Skills:
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Ability to learn and use reports in Microsoft Access
