The duties that the incumbent of the vacancy will be expected to perform. Duties Description These positions will be assigned to the Processing and Shared Services Bureau, or the Business Tax Bureau. The incumbent may perform activities including but not limited to the following essential functions: • Open, review, and sort incoming mail • Compile returns and documents accurately for processing and scanning • Maintain electronic and hard copy of records and files • Operate office equipment such as printer, copiers, scanners, and fax machines. • Maintain inventory of office supplies and equipment • Have a working knowledge of various Microsoft products such as Word, Excel, Outlook, and Teams, in addition to having a working knowledge of our various processing and workflow systems• Manipulate an alphanumeric keyboard and operate a PC to navigate various computer systems and applications in order to enter, retrieve, and compile information and data; prepare forms and reports accurately and timely • Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing with the public and Department personnel, in order to assist customers. Answer phones and transfer to appropriate unit staff for assistance • Adhere to the Department’s time and attendance rules and regulations. • Perform with the highest level of integrity, acting within the Department’s code of conduct, state ethics laws, and department policies.
The minimum qualifications required for this vacancy. Minimum Qualifications This title is part of the New York Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement Statewide Program (NY HELPS). For the duration of the NY HELPS Program, this title may be filled via a non-competitive appointment, which means no examination is required but all candidates must meet the minimum qualifications of the title for which they apply. At a future date, it is expected employees hired under NY HELPS will have their non-competitive employment status converted to competitive status, without having to compete in an examination. Employees will then be afforded with all of the same rights and privileges of competitive class employees of New York State. While serving permanently in an NY HELPS title, employees may take part in any promotion examination for which they are qualified.NON-COMPETITIVE MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: There are no minimum education or experience requirements for this title. COMPETITIVE MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Current NYS employee eligible for transfer under the provisions of NYS Civil Service Laws, Rules, & Regulations.
