The Spray Technician is responsible for safely applying pesticides, herbicides, fungicides, and fertilizers to lawns, shrubs, and landscaping beds to control pests, weeds, and diseases while promoting healthy growth. They assess lawn conditions, provide tailored care recommendations, and maintain and operate spraying equipment such as backpack and truck-mounted sprayers. The role requires strict adherence to safety protocols, including proper chemical handling, wearing protective gear, and ensuring compliance with local and federal regulations. Technicians also communicate with customers to address questions, resolve issues, and provide service updates, while keeping detailed treatment logs and reports to ensure proper documentation and compliance. Regular equipment maintenance and environmental responsibility in chemical application are key aspects of the job.
Qualifications and Education Requirements
- At least 1-2 years of experience in lawn care, landscaping, or a related field, with a focus on chemical application.
- Experience with the safe operation of lawn spraying equipment.
- Valid pesticide applicator’s license or certification (required; must comply with local/state regulations).
- Certification in turfgrass management or pest management (preferred, but not required).
- Valid driver’s license and a clean driving record.
- Knowledge of turf care, pest control, and lawn fertilization techniques.
Ability to identify common lawn pests, diseases, and nutrient deficiencies
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow safety guidelines.
- Excellent communication skills and customer service orientation.
- Ability to work independently and in a team setting.
- Basic record-keeping and computer skills for logging treatments and scheduling.
Physical Requirements:
