What are the responsibilities and job description for the Water Resources Engineer position at Taylor Engineering?
Taylor Engineering is currently seeking a mid-level Water Resources Engineer to work in any of our Florida locations (Jacksonville, Tampa, or Destin) or our Pennsylvania location (Philadelphia). The Water Resources Engineer will work with our Federal Programs supporting FEMA MT-2 Program - Letter of Map Revisions (LOMRs). This is a nation-wide project and will accomplish the mission through hydrologic and hydraulic modeling, model review, quality control, spatial data development and analysis, map production, and watershed management programs.
Job duties will involve managing and handling tasks associated with floodplain mapping and floodplain management, hydrology and hydraulics, and project reviews associated with FEMA LOMRs. Working under direct supervision, receiving specific and detailed instructions as to required tasks and expected results. Opportunity to provide oversight, guidance, and direction to a multi-disciplinary team, while upholding quality standards, schedules, and budgets. Tasks will include :
- Review LOMR case requests to determine if they meet all FEMA criteria justifying a change to published flood hazard data.
- Review hydrologic and hydraulic models for technical accuracy.
- Verify compliance with FEMA National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) standards and FEMA Guidelines and Specifications.
- Provide recommendations to the resolution of floodplain mapping issues related to LOMRs.
- Preparation of all appropriate FEMA documentation and correspondence.
- Oversight and guidance of third party LOMR preparations.
- Verbal and written communication skills will be utilized daily to interact directly with the public requesters.
