SUMMARY:
The Production Lead and assists the Production Supervisor in insuring that the day to day operation is completed. Production Lead directly supervises a team of workers in an outlined area of food production to meet daily production goals. Reads and analyzes production data. This position ensures that workers comply with quality, health and safety standards. Assists and backs-up workers when required. Trains new workers on job related skills. The Production Lead maintains a positive attitude, serves as a mentor and coach to direct the employee will ensure that all jobs are performed following all company, safety and quality policies while maintaining high productivity reports and general areas.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Leads and directs food production workers to achieve production goals.
- Ensures equipment and material are available for production on time by area
- Responsible for work process and flow per standard work requirements by area, customer and SKU
- Ensures compliance with production, safety, sanitation, quality standards and procedures, including an understanding of CCP and Operational limits
- Responsible for pre-shift exercises, huddle and safety of employees.
- Able to operate all equipment in assigned area, works on the line and operates equipment when required
- Trains workers on the job duties, communicates and assures compliance of company policies and procedures
8. Ensures all labor allocations meet requirements and performance expectations.
9. Makes recommendation to the supervisor regarding performance.
- Communicates with other leads and supervisors to coordinate operations between departments
11. Knowledge and responsible for understanding and applying basic lean concepts, (i.e. 5S, standard work, time observations, Root cause & corrective action etc.).
12. Ability to learn & train cross functionally throughout all production areas (i.e. low risk, deli, produce, hot kitchen & assembly).
- Ability to read and understand processes, and recipes.
- Responsible for all documentation related to area assigned.
- Provides coverage for Production Supervisor when necessary
- Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor & above
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- High School Diploma Preferred
- Strong communication in English & Spanish desirable
- Safety and sanitation certifications a plus
- 1 to 2 years of Production Leadership preferred
- 1-3 years of food prep, production or equivalent experience
- Aptitude to learn and apply new concepts
- Ability to adapt & manage change
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
The person in this position must be able to remain in a stationary position for extended periods of time. Frequently moves product weighing 50 pounds. Often exposed to 30 degree to 40 degree refrigerated environments. Frequently communicates with employees and/or external customers and must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
