What are the responsibilities and job description for the Production Planner position at Taylor Farms?
Purpose of Role:
The role of the Planner is to develop and maintain the Master Production Schedule (MPS). The Planner will analyze and translate the business plan, including forecast demand, into production plan, ensuring the MPS quantifies significant processes, materials, equipment, and other resources to optimize production. The Planner must identify capacity constraints, analyze problems, and drive profitability.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develop production plans that meets customer service objectives and deliver finished goods inventories at target levels.
- Work heavily in computer systems such as Microsoft AX, Demand Solutions, and the Microsoft Suite.
- Create an achievable weekly Master Production Schedule.
- Work with Sales and Manufacturing Teams to control overall plan hours vs. annual targets.
- Use available tools to create optimized production solution, considering available capacity and any production constraints.
- Avoid shortages, costly expediting, last minute scheduling, and inefficient allocation of resources.
- Lead all production planning activities.
- Formally communicate any/all MPS changes and/or production schedule changes to the Buyer and Production department.
- Drive process excellence and compliance with product/service quality standards.Design KPI’s, methodologies and measurements to ensure process improvement.
- Perform ad hoc analysis and generate reports in response to questions regarding production or inventory status.
- Interpret and support standards, policies and procedures established by Corporate, Federal, State or Local agencies.
- Develop a standard methodology to capture and analyze data related to process timings, throughputs; yields to be used to calculate material usage, capacity and labor hours.
- Consistently leverage fresh perspectives to enhance business results.
- Define problems, collect data, establish facts, and recommend corrective actions.
- As needed, follow up on purchase orders. Be involved in the engineering and qualification phases of product development to ensure timely completion of projects.
- Build trust through honest and candid interactions with others. Consistently deliver on commitments.

- Work with mathematical concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and apply them.
- Administrative and clerical procedures including ERP system, Excel, MS Office, managing files, records, and transcription, designing forms, and other office procedures and terminology.

Requirements:
- B.S. math, economics, business or statistics preferred.
- At least one year of manufacturing planning experience preferred.
- Food or medical industry experience preferred.

- Strong interpersonal skills ability to build strong relationships.
- Good written and oral communication skills to effectively present information to co-workers and upper management.
- Demonstrated leadership.
- Production and Processing -- Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods.
- Mathematics -- Knowledge of arithmetic, algebra, geometry, calculus, statistics, and their applications.
