JOB SUMMARY
To setup and operate all types of rolling and crimping equipment for the purpose of forming plate into the desired size and shape.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Plan and prepare the proper roll and dies for rolling and crimping.
Setup, align component, and operate rolling and crimping equipment with the proper roll and dies in accordance with drawings, standards, and specifications.
Measure and confirm components are made to the desired shape and size.
Operate furnaces to heat parts for rolling and crimping.
Perform tack welding of cylinders in accordance with the proper Welding Procedure Specification (WPS).
Report abnormal conditions of equipment to Foreman.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Work in a safe and secure manner and comply with the safety rules and procedures.
Perform minor welding of stops, fixtures, dies, and other miscellaneous items.
Perform small repairs and preventative maintenance on the rolling and crimping equipment.
Operate jib cranes, forklifts, and other mobile equipment (except heavy cranes) for the moving of material, components, and equipment from location to location within the plant. Occasionally operate overhead cranes and towmotors in support of small moves to continue production within the department.
Perform general laborer duties as required (i.e. grinding, loading and unloading of trucks and railcars, bricking furnace).
Keep working area clean and perform housekeeping duties around the plant as required (i.e. pickup tools, roll-up hoses and cables, sweep).
