Job Title: Chemist II
Summary:
An industry leading pharmaceutical manufacturing firm is seeking a Chemist II to conduct routine laboratory testing for raw materials, stability, and finished pharmaceutical products in a high-throughput quality control lab. Key tests include HPLC, assays, dissolution, and Karl Fischer (KF) analysis.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform analytical testing on raw materials, in-process materials, stability samples, and finished products according to test methods, SOPs, or USP procedures.
- Conduct wet chemistry tests per USP compendia, including assays, preservative content, LOD, ROI, water content, and identification tests.
- Perform complex chemistry testing, including related substances/impurities, residual solvents, dissolution, disintegration, heavy metals, etc.
- Operate analytical instruments such as HPLC, GC, KF titrators, FT-IR, UV/Vis spectrophotometer, and others during routine testing.
- Assist in preparing technical documentation, including test methods, SOPs, analytical reports, and change controls.
- Troubleshoot technical issues with guidance from the group leader.
- Review laboratory data and assist in investigations.
- Train lab personnel as needed and ensure compliance with GMP, GLP, and EHS standards.
- Report deviations and assist in corrective actions to ensure data integrity.
- Comply with DEA and site requirements for handling and disposing of controlled substances.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's/Master’s degree in Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or related field with 4-7 years of pharmaceutical lab experience.
- Strong knowledge of solid dosage forms and testing methods (HPLC, assays, dissolution, KF).
- Experience with Empower chromatography software is a plus.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work in a team.
- Proficient in general computer applications (Word, Excel, databases).
- Commitment to safety and environmental standards.
Physical Requirements:
- Sedentary role; occasional light lifting (up to 10 lbs) and walking.
- Requires close visual acuity for data analysis, inspection, and measurement.
- Use of company-approved PAPR as needed.
This role offers an opportunity to work in a dynamic laboratory environment supporting the production of specialty pharmaceutical products.
Salary : $60,000 - $75,000
