Position Overview:
The Surgical First Assistant will collaborate closely with our surgeons during plastic and reconstruction surgeries. This position is vital in supporting the success of surgical procedures by providing hands-on assistance. The ideal candidate must have strong suturing skills and a minimum of 4 years of experience in a surgical setting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist the surgeon in plastic and reconstruction procedures
- Set up and maintain a sterile field, ensuring all instruments and supplies are prepared for use.
- Perform precise suturing and ensure efficient wound closure during surgeries.
- Anticipate the needs of the surgeon during procedures to optimize patient outcomes.
- Assist with patient positioning, draping, and overall preparation for surgery.
- Properly handle surgical instruments and equipment before, during, and after procedures.
- Maintain effective communication with the surgical team to ensure smooth workflow during operations.
- Provide post-operative support, including dressing application and patient transport as needed.
Qualifications:
- Certification as a Surgical First Assistant (CST, CFA, or RNFA) or equivalent.
- At least 4 years of experience assisting in surgeries, with a focus on plastic or reconstruction surgery preferred.
- Strong suturing skills are essential.
- Thorough understanding of sterile techniques and surgical instrumentation.
- Ability to function effectively in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to patient safety.
- BLS/ACLS certification.
