About this Role

Our growing Taylor’s Construction team is seeking a knowledgeable and experienced Fleet Manager to oversee the management, maintenance, and compliance of our construction fleet. The Fleet Manager will play a critical role in ensuring that our fleet of vehicles and equipment are operating efficiently, safely, and in compliance with all relevant regulations. This position will work closely with the on-site Shop Foreman and will be responsible for DOT compliance, managing DMV-related matters, handling leasing agreements, and ensuring that the fleet is maintained to high operational standards.

What You'll Do

DOT Compliance:

  • Ensure the fleet is fully compliant with all Department of Transportation (DOT) and FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) regulations, including inspections, driver logs, hours of service, and other compliance-related matters.
  • Keep up-to-date with changes in regulations and implement necessary adjustments to the company’s fleet management practices.

DMV & Licensing:

  • Manage vehicle registration, title changes, and renewal processes with the DMV.
  • Ensure that all drivers have the proper licensing and certifications to operate the company vehicles.

Leasing & Procurement:

  • Oversee the leasing agreements for company vehicles and construction equipment, including negotiating terms and renewal schedules.

Budget Management:

  • Develop and manage the fleet’s budget, ensuring that all fleet-related expenses are tracked and kept within budgetary constraints.
  • Analyze and report on fleet-related costs, including fuel, repairs, and leasing agreements.

Collaboration with Shop Foreman:

  • Work closely with the on-site Shop Foreman to ensure smooth operations and timely maintenance of vehicles and equipment.
  • Communicate any issues or challenges to the Shop Foreman and work together to find efficient solutions.

What You'll Bring

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience managing a fleet, preferably in the construction or transportation industry.
  • Strong knowledge of DOT regulations, DMV processes, and fleet management best practices.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; a degree in business, logistics, or a related field is preferred.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
  • Strong communication skills to work effectively with shop personnel, drivers, and company leadership.
