Job Description: Accounting Personnel (Insurance Agency)
Location: Midtown Manhattan (New York, NY)
Reports To: Accounting Manager
Position Overview:
We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Accounting position with 3-5 years of experience to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting, experience with insurance industry-specific processes, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment. This position will play a key role in supporting the accounting department with various tasks related to financial record-keeping, and reconciliations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Process and maintain accurate records of daily financial transactions, including billing, payments, and commissions.
- Monitor and update accounts payable and receivable ledgers, ensuring timely and accurate processing of payments and collections.
- Assist with premium data entry, ensuring accuracy and compliance with industry standards.
- Review and process insurance policy invoices, ensuring proper coding and allocation of payments.
- Liaise with clients, agents, and vendors to resolve billing discrepancies and inquiries.
- Maintain and organize financial documents, both digital and paper, in compliance with company policies.
- Provide general administrative support to the accounting team as needed.
- Stay updated on changes in accounting practices, insurance regulations, and technology to enhance departmental efficiency.
Qualifications:
- 3-5 years of accounting experience, preferably in the insurance industry.
- Experience with industry-specific software is a plus- AMS360.
- Excellent attention to detail, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills for collaborating with internal teams and clients.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive financial information.
- Knowledge of insurance-related terminology, policies, and billing processes is a plus.
- Associate degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; or equivalent work experience is a plus.
