Fleet Manager Assistant
Taylor Truck Line Inc. is based out of Northfield, MN and is looking for a Fleet Manager Assistant for our Operations department. A person that is has good communication skills, works well in a fast paced environment, and processes a strong attention to detail. Job Responsibilities:
- Assist Fleet Managers in all aspects of a drivers day by communicating with drivers, planners and CSR’s to schedule driver pickup and deliveries to customers, taking into account the delivery deadline, driver HOS, driver home time, equipment availability, and other outside factors such as weather, traffic, etc.
- Monitor the movement of trucks and freight from pickup to delivery by communicating with drivers throughout the trip to assess progress and address any issues or problems that may arise.
- Monitor, prioritize and resolve any issues that may affect scheduled times for pickup or delivery caused by mechanical problems with trucks, delays due to traffic or weather challenges, HOS issues or changes requested by the customer regarding times or locations.
- Record changes in ETA, PTA, home time, etc... in TMW Suite software and communicate any critical changes with Planners and CSR’s. Provide drivers with PO’s as the event occurs.
- Communicate status of each delivery in progress at the start and completion of each work shift.
- Work with drivers to educate and optimize miles and MPG to help them reach their established goals.
- Notify drivers when required paperwork is missing, when their equipment is scheduled for preventive maintenance, etc.
- Other duties as specified.
Job Requirements:
- High school Diploma or GED with previous office experience.
- Strong team player with the ability to stay calm and function in a high call volume, fast paced and challenging environment.
- Preferred computer skills in MS Outlook and Excel. Experience with TMW Suite and Samsara preferred.
- Superior verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to calm an upset driver and relate to drivers on a personal level.
- Strong listening skills with the ability to differentiate driver issues and decipher problems vs. complaints.
- Strong critical thinking, decision making and problem resolution skills.
- Strong attention to detail and follow-up skills.
- Ability to self-manage, multi-task, organize and prioritize to meet tight deadlines.
- Ability to think on one's feet and make decisions quickly.
- Ability to determine what is the single most important task at any given moment.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Ability to read, write and speak English fluently.
- Willingness to occasionally take calls after hours and work approximately every 13th Saturday from 8-noon is required.
- This position is an in Office position
- Mon-Fri 7-4:30p

Preferred:
- Knowledge of FMCSA Rules and Regulations pertaining to commercial drivers and contract truck load carriers including solid understanding of HOS rules.
- TMW Suite software and Samsara experience preferred

Pay: $45,000.00 - $50,000.00 per year
