What are the responsibilities and job description for the Low Voltage Structured Cabling Technician position at Taylored Systems?
Job Summary
As a Member of the Low Voltage Team, you will provide installation, termination, and certification of cabling systems, encompassing Cat5e, Cat6, Cat6a, and fiber optic solutions. Precision in labeling and neatly bundling cables ensures a functional system and a visually organized environment. Verify that all installed cables are in perfect working order with appropriate test equipment. Perform maintenance as needed such as repairing or upgrading cable infrastructure. After installation, you will empower our clients by providing thorough training on the use of the installed products and systems, contributing to their confidence in our solutions. Your meticulous work will be documented within our internal tracking system. As an essential part of our cabling support, participation in on-call rotations, typically scheduled every 3-4 weeks, showcases commitment to our clients’ safety around the clock.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Install, terminate, and certify Cat5e, Cat6, Cat6a, and fiber optic cabling systems.
- Label and pull cables in a neat and bundled fashion.
- Utilize appropriate testing equipment to verify installed cables are in working order.
- Perform maintenance on cable systems by repairing or upgrading cable infrastructure.
- Documenting all work progress within our internal tracking system.
- Provide education to clients on installed equipment and address any questions or concerns.
- Maintaining an organized and stocked company vehicle.
- Completing on-call rotations every 5-6 weeks after initial 90 days.
Required Skills/Abilities
- Proficient with the proper use of trade hand and power tools.
- Knowledge of networking equipment and how it operates.
- Knowledge of coax, fiber-optic, and network cable.
- Knowledge of telecommunications/electronic installation procedures.
- Ability to work from high and/or confined spaces.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 75 pounds.
- Ability to operate Boom and Scissor lifts.
- Ability to organize and prioritize multiple work assignments.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Motivation to continually learn and improve within the industry.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Education and Experience
- Highschool Diploma or Equivalent required.
- A valid Indiana driver’s license is required.

Compensation
Commensurate on experience and skills
- An on-call bonus is also provided once the technician gets added to the rotation.
