OVERVIEW:
We are seeking a skilled person in the industrial sector that leads a dynamic team to complete projects with safety and quality as driving factors. The Foreman should promote a culture of teamwork that embraces trust, accountability, and continuous improvement to meet and exceed operational goals and objectives. This position requires a combination of technical knowledge, leadership skills, and attention to quality and detail.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Supervision and Leadership:

  • Lead, supervise, coach, and coordinate the activities of the painting team.
  • Assign tasks and delegate responsibilities to painters and other team members to ensure high quality outcomes.
  • Provide direction, guidance, mentorship, and training to team members to ensure safe and efficient painting operations.
  • Foster a positive and safe work environment that encourages teamwork and collaboration.

Safety and Compliance:

  • Ensure that all painting activities adhere to safety regulations and industry standards which include company policies, OSHA, MSHA and state/federal laws.
  • Promote a culture of safety among the painting team by enforcing safety protocols and best practices.
  • Conduct safety meetings to promote safe work practices.
  • Identify and address potential hazards or risks related to the paint application process.

Project Planning and Coordination:

  • Plan and schedule daily operations with team, considering project timelines and deadlines.
  • Coordinate with project managers, contractors, and other relevant managing team members to ensure smooth execution of painting tasks.
  • Manage and track inventory of painting materials, equipment, and supplies on assigned projects. Schedule future deliveries as needed.

Quality Control:

  • Inspect equipment prior to use. Identifying specific tools required to complete scope of work.
  • Inspect surfaces to be painted for defects, ensuring proper surface preparation before painting.
  • Monitor painting work to ensure it meets quality standards and specifications.
  • Address any issues related to paint application, adhesion, or finish quality.
  • Conduct regular inspections and quality checks throughout the painting process.

Technical Expertise:

  • Possess a strong understanding of different paint types, coatings, application methods, and surface preparation techniques.
  • Provide guidance on paint selection, color matching, and appropriate application methods for various surfaces and environments.

Equipment Maintenance:

  • Ensure all inspection equipment is up to date, in good working order and always within calibration.
  • Oversee the maintenance and upkeep of painting equipment, such as spray guns, brushes, rollers, and other tools.
  • Ensure that equipment is cleaned, calibrated, and in proper working condition to achieve optimal painting results.
  • Coordinate equipment repairs and replacements as needed.

Documentation and Reporting:

  • Maintain accurate daily records of painting activities, including project progress, materials used, labor hours, change orders, delays, etc.
  • Generate daily reports on project status, resource allocation, and any issues that may arise during painting operations through TruQC.
  • Reading and understanding the scope of work assigned.

Team Development:

  • Identify training needs for team members and provide opportunities for skill development.
  • Conduct performance evaluations and provide constructive feedback to team members.

Problem Solving:

  • Address challenges and obstacles that arise during painting operations, finding solutions to maintain project momentum and quality.
  • Make quick and informed decisions to ensure projects stay on track.

Communication:

  • Collaborate with other departments, Superintendent, QA/QC & Safety to ensure effective communication and coordination.
  • Act as a point of contact for any paint-related inquiries or concerns to all team members and customers
  • Communicate daily with direct Superintendent and job point of contact with daily progress, safety, crew member issues and production.
  • Communicate all scope changes, additional work, or discovery work with field superintendent.

Customer Relations:

  • Interact with clients or project owners to understand their expectations and communicate project progress.
  • Address any concerns or inquiries from clients in a professional and timely manner.
  • Strive to exceed client expectations by delivering high-quality painting results and exceptional service.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Required:

  • Safety FIRST mentality!
  • Passing pre-employment background check and drug testing, as well as random drug and alcohol testing as applicable.
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in industrial sector with blasting and painting expertise.
  • Knowledge of current OSHA and other related safety requirements.
  • Ability to work extended hours, overtime, weekends, and/or holidays, as needed.
  • Willing to travel up to 80% of the year.
  • Basic to intermediate communication skills in English (read, write, and speak).
  • A valid driver’s license.
  • Ability to enter information in both handheld and desktop computers throughout the work shift.
  • Ability to work with limited supervision, have attention to detail, and strong initiative.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills, and the ability to work within timelines.
  • Ability to think logically, follow procedures, and make sound decisions.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to interact with members across the organization, customers, and vendors.
  • Ability to communicate clear expectations to inspire, energize and motivate the team. Ability to lead and develop team members.

Preferred:

  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a supervisory role within the industrial coatings industry.
  • Basic to intermediate communication skills in Spanish.
  • NACE / AMPP / SSPC credentials or certifications.
  • CDL

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $25.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 – 65 per week
