What are the responsibilities and job description for the Wastewater Operator position at TAYLORSVILLE-BENNION IMPROVEMENT DISTRICT?
Full time position with excellent benefits! Performs a variety of duties related to the construction and maintenance of the District's wastewater collection infrastructure and equipment. Operates CCTV and Vactor truck, performs daily maintenance and upkeep on lift stations, inspects manholes, sets up barricades for projects and acts as flagger, cross trains with water personnel, works rotating on-call duties for both water and wastewater system. Included on a rotation to respond to emergencies 24 hours 7 days a week.
Graduation from high school or equivalent; and, One (1) year of general construction experience. (Consideration will be given to additional experience and education.)
Some knowledge of hazards and precautions associated with trench work; industry safety standards and regulations; operation of pumps, equipment; basic hand and power tools; skill in the operation of heavy mechanized equipment as required by the position; i.e., excavation equipment, pumps, generators, air compressors, crane and computer helpful. Ability to adapt to emergency or unusual situations; tolerate weather extremes in the workplace; communicate effectively; perform strenuous manual labor; develop working relationships with supervisors, co-workers and the public; able to lift 70 lbs.
Must have or be able to obtain a class “A” commercial driver’s license; must have or be able to obtain State water distribution and wastewater collection certification grade IV. Must occasionally work on a twenty-four (24) hour stand-by or on call.
Work in outdoor environment subject to changing and seasonal weather extremes. Tasks require a variety of physical activities involving muscular strain, walking, stooping, sitting, reaching, and lifting; talking, hearing, seeing essential to performing required job functions. Eye, hand, finger dexterity required. Mental application utilizes memory for details, verbal instructions, emotional stability, discriminating thinking and creative problem solving.
