Scope of Position
The Waterpark Maintenance Technician is responsible for the maintenance, repair, and efficient operation of all waterpark systems, including pools, slides, pumps, motors, and water treatment equipment. This individual plays a vital role in maintaining the highest safety and cleanliness standards for our guests while supporting the Engineering team in achieving departmental goals and ensuring a seamless guest experience.
Position Requirements
- Minimum of 3–5 years of experience in aquatic facility maintenance, hospitality, or a related technical/mechanical field.
- Proven experience with pool systems, pumps, motors, chemical feeders, and filtration systems.
- Strong knowledge of water chemistry, mechanical repair, and aquatic safety protocols.
- Ability to troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, and plumbing systems.
- Comfortable working in indoor/outdoor water environments and performing tasks at heights or in confined spaces.
- Certification in Certified Pool Operator (CPO) or Aquatic Facility Operator (AFO) preferred.
- Must be able to communicate effectively in English. Second language is a plus.
Responsibilities
- Perform daily inspections of waterpark equipment and attractions, including pools, slides, pumps, and filtration systems to ensure safe and smooth operation.
- Conduct regular water chemistry testing and apply appropriate chemical treatments to maintain compliance with health and safety standards.
- Repair and maintain waterpark infrastructure, including heaters, wave generators, conveyer systems, chemical feed systems, and motors.
- Identify and address mechanical issues proactively through troubleshooting and preventative maintenance.
- Power-wash surfaces, vacuum pools, and ensure the cleanliness of the waterpark and all related equipment.
- Monitor and manage parts inventory; report low stock or needed supplies to Engineering Management.
- Assist with the development and adherence to a comprehensive preventative maintenance schedule.
- Respond promptly to service requests and prioritize tasks based on guest impact and operational urgency using the GXP system.
- Collaborate with Lifeguards, Engineering team, and Resort Management to ensure a safe and enjoyable guest experience.
- Promote a culture of safety by adhering to OSHA and hotel safety protocols at all times.
- Maintain organized and clean workspaces, and storage areas.
- Report any unsafe conditions immediately and assist in resolution.
- Perform other duties as assigned by Engineering Management or Waterpark Supervisor.
Education
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Technical training or certifications in pool maintenance or mechanical systems preferred.
- Experience in a hotel, resort, or large aquatic facility is highly desirable.
Skills and Abilities
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals.
- Proficiency in using hand and power tools for mechanical repair.
- Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and task prioritization.
- Ability to work independently or collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- Commitment to delivering excellent service to both internal teams and guests.
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to lift, push, and pull items up to 50 lbs.
- Requires frequent standing, walking, reaching, bending, climbing ladders, and working in confined spaces or outdoor environments.
- Must be able to work in wet, humid, and noisy conditions for extended periods.
- Ability to work flexible hours including weekends, holidays, and emergency calls as needed.
