TBEI is seeking a dynamic and experienced Corporate Commodity Manager to lead and execute strategic procurement initiatives. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering component cost and quality objectives for a specific product area, while aligning closely with Manufacturing, Product Development, and Material Planning teams. This role also serves as the primary procurement representative and liaison for the Business Unit, ensuring their needs are understood and contributing to the achievement of organizational goals. This position will be onsite at our corporate office in Birmingham, AL, or at TBEI in Lake Crystal, MN.
Job Responsibilities:
- Responsible for cost effective sourcing of supplies for product specific needs. Act as the single point of contact for assigned business unit. Align with Business Unit on product specific goals and priorities in regions. Drive continuous improvement actions in cost, quality and logistics. Investigates all new developments relative to material and makes recommendations for cost reduction and improved quality levels. Develop timetables to ensure the availability of materials to support new product launch programs.
- Responsible for staffing. Personnel management including recruiting/hiring, supervision, disciplinary actions, performance appraisals and terminations. Prioritize staff workloads in order to meet product needs/objectives in all area. Develop and train staff to ensure high skill levels.
- Provide supply based management support to Commodity Strategy Development and implementation. Create a strong working relationship with commodity management. Must develop and implement commodity strategy of product specific commodities. Researches and develops sources of supply for product specific commodities. Drive product specific commodity activities/initiatives and assure implementation
- Oversees the purchase of services and supplies necessary for the operation of a business unit including machinery, equipment, tools and raw materials. Ensures that statistical data is compiled and analyzed to determine the feasibility of buying products and establishing price objectives. Directs Buyers to compile information from periodicals, catalogs and other sources to keep informed on trends in pricing and manufacturing processes.
- Ensures effective price negotiation, selection and/or recommendation of suppliers, trend analysis, order follow up, and delivery verification. Reviews proposals for price, delivery time and quality in order to select suppliers. Approves qualified vendors and approves purchase orders. Monitors the cost, schedule and performance factors of major subcontractors.
- Perform other duties, assignments, and special projects as required
Requirements:
- A minimum of 7 years of experience in the Materials/Purchasing function
- Procurement experience at the leadership level; must have experience working with senior management and understand the role of procurement within the manufacturing and product development arenas.
- Excellent project management and negotiation skills.
- Strong product knowledge and understanding.
- Strong cultural sensitivity to manage relationships with people from all cultures.
- Strong leadership capabilities to deliver results and to build cross-cultural teams
- 20% travel typical, balanced with virtual meetings.

- Wage Expectations: $100K - $125K
- Salaried, Non-Exempt, we are paid on a bi-weekly basis
- Typical Schedule: Monday - Friday 8AM - 5PM
