We are seeking a Junior Chemist to support the Indiana Department of Health (IDOH) Chemistry Laboratory. This role focuses on analyzing opioids and other novel psychoactive substances in human specimens (blood, urine, and serum) and wastewater. The chemist will also test for contaminants such as antibiotics, radionuclides, metals, and pesticides.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct complex chemical analyses on environmental, food, and clinical samples using advanced instrumentation in compliance with EPA, FDA, and CLIA regulations.
- Adhere to Quality Assurance (QA) protocols and maintain technical proficiency through Proficiency Testing (PT) samples.
- Operate and maintain laboratory equipment, performing preventative maintenance and minor repairs.
- Accurately document findings, maintain instrument logbooks, prepare technical reports, and update Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Ensure a safe and organized work environment.
- Train and cross-train on additional analytical procedures.
- Assist supervisors with related laboratory tasks as assigned.
