Our client is actively interviewing for an experienced Divisional Controller for the Engineering division which specializes in mechanical, electrical, and instrument engineering and commissioning. Our client serves customers across the southeast including Texas, Louisiana, Oklahoma and New Mexico.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Planning and Analysis-- Responsible for annual budgeting and quarterly forecasting processes including revenue and cost projections as well as impact of staffing plans on the budgets and forecasts
- Responsible for oversight of the monthly income statement (and some balance sheet accounting) variances to budget/forecast
- Oversight of revenue recognition process
- Acquisition Integration-- manage efforts for newly acquired engineering related entities
- Financial oversight of revenue recognition process, analyzing project under/over-billing positions. Review work in process monthly ensuring projects are invoiced in a timely manner.
- Oversee billing specialists who are preparing client invoices including preparation of draft invoices for Project Managers’ review. Review accounts receivable monthly and remind Billing Managers to collect past due receivables.
- Coordinate performance review process for divisions within the engineering group
- Manage the firm’s state and national licenses and registrations. Work with contracted Registered Agents to confirm that annual reports are filed, fees are paid, etc.
- Review accounts payable bi-weekly to assure that timely payment is made to vendors and subconsultants.
- Prepare specific tax filings (sales and use tax, etc.) weekly, bi-weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual state and federal tax filings.
- This role requires a high degree of attention to detail and the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced environment
- Must be able to work under pressure while maintaining accuracy and meeting deadlines.
- Perform other job-related duties as requested by management.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or other relevant field is required
- Certified Public Account (CPA) certification is preferred
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in a controller role is required
- Background in Engineering and Construction preferred
- Percentage of completion accounting experience is required
- Must be willing to travel occasionally to other remote offices
