Our client, a well-established law firm in Birmingham, AL, is seeking a highly organized and proactive Legal Assistant to join their team. The ideal candidate will have experience in commercial litigation and business services, supporting attorneys in complex legal matters and ensuring smooth operations within the firm. Key Responsibilities :
- Provide administrative support to attorneys handling commercial litigation and business law matters.
- Draft, proofread, and prepare legal documents such as pleadings, motions, contracts, discovery requests, and other filings related to commercial litigation and business services.
- Manage and organize case files, both electronic and physical, ensuring that all documents are properly indexed, organized, and easily accessible.
- Assist in the preparation of discovery materials, including document production, review of discovery responses, and assisting in preparing responses to interrogatories and requests for admissions.
- Maintain and track case deadlines, filing requirements, and manage the calendar for litigation proceedings and business services matters.
- Communicate with clients, witnesses, experts, opposing counsel, and court personnel to schedule meetings, depositions, hearings, and conference calls.
- Research and gather relevant case materials, statutes, regulations, and other business-related information to support attorneys.
- Assist in trial preparation, including document organization, trial exhibit preparation, and ensuring all necessary materials are ready for hearings or depositions.
- File documents with courts and regulatory agencies, ensuring compliance with applicable local, state, and federal rules.
- Coordinate and support business-related legal matters such as corporate governance, mergers, acquisitions, and contract management.
- Assist with billing and timekeeping for attorneys and other administrative duties as required.
