Job Summary
The Materials Manager will be responsible for managing the flow of materials through the supply chain, ensuring optimal inventory levels, minimizing costs, and improving efficiency. This role requires a deep understanding of material planning, supplier relationships, and logistics operations. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in materials management within a manufacturing or industrial setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement strategies for efficient material procurement, inventory management, and distribution.
- Oversee supplier selection, negotiation, and performance to ensure quality and cost-effectiveness.
- Optimize inventory levels to prevent shortages and excess stock while meeting production demands.
- Collaborate with production, engineering, and purchasing teams to align material needs with operational goals.
- Implement and maintain best practices for supply chain optimization, including lean manufacturing and just-in-time inventory systems.
- Monitor and analyze key metrics to identify areas for improvement in material handling and cost control.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations, company policies, and industry standards.
- Lead and mentor a team of buyers and parts specialists.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Logistics, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in materials management, preferably in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
- Strong knowledge of inventory control techniques, procurement processes, and ERP/MRP systems.
- Proven leadership skills with experience in team management and cross-functional collaboration.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
- Effective communication and negotiation skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and supply chain management software.
Work Environment
This is a hybrid remote position that will operate out of both Manteca and Gridley locations. This position is combined indoor and outdoor settings which includes exposure to hot work, chemicals, paints, and higher temperatures for brief periods. Time in the field includes being exposed to outdoors, other office settings, dirt, noise, uneven surfaces, and excessive heat or cold.
