The Chan Zuckerberg Biohub Network (https : / / www.czbiohub.org / ) is a group of nonprofit research institutes that bring together scientists, engineers, and physicians with the goal of pursuing grand scientific challenges on 10- to 15-year time horizons. The Opportunity
Reporting to the Network Security Principal Engineer, the Senior Network Engineer follows best practices and IT security protocols, and provides key input on infrastructure-related design, procurement, and deployments. This is a rewarding opportunity for a highly capable and self-motivated engineer to make vital contributions to support world-class science in a high-profile and growing privately funded network of research institutes with national and increasing global significance.
This position will assist in and support the design, deployment, and ongoing management of both wired and wireless network services across a multitude of enterprise systems and foundational IT infrastructure at multiple sites, supporting a High Performance Computing (HPC) infrastructure (both on-premises and cloud) optimized for life sciences research.
This position will command a wide variety of networking technologies, including routing and switching, firewalls, wired, wireless, and optical networks. Primary responsibility for the network includes the routers, switches, cable plant, and wireless infrastructure. The Senior Network Engineer's responsibilities include installation, monitoring, maintenance, troubleshooting, support, and optimization of all wired and wireless network hardware, software, and communication links.
The successful candidate communicates clearly and effectively with end users, colleagues, management, and external contacts, and follows up to problem solve and troubleshoot computer problems on their behalf. The successful candidate is motivated and self-driven, and works alongside other IT Engineers of all levels to understand and to help to meet the unique technology needs of the Biohub.
