Senior Project Engineer, Electric Vehicle Charging

New Leaf Energy is an experienced clean energy developer that partners with landowners, policymakers, and other stakeholders to accelerate the transition to a world powered by renewable energy. We identify high-value sites, work with landowners and local communities to develop them, and partner with long-term asset owners to bring the most impactful clean energy projects to life.

New Leaf Energy is seeking a Senior Project Engineer for our growing electric vehicle fast-charging business. New Leaf Energy was formed in 2022 out of the development arm of Borrego Energy, one of the most trusted names in clean energy development and construction. We launched our EV charging business in December 2022, and have been rapidly scaling up our offering to become a leading provider of public and fleet charging solutions in the U.S.

As Senior Project Engineer for Electric Vehicle Charging, you will join a small team of in-house engineers in our EV fast-charging development business. In this capacity, you’ll have the opportunity to accelerate NLE’s EV Charging development process and to interact directly with the business leaders who are shaping New Leaf Energy’s EV strategy.

New Leaf Energy’s EV charging division is a hybrid-forward workplace, which means that we encourage flexibility in work arrangements but also value in-person collaboration at our office. We strongly prefer to hire someone who is located in the Boston, Massachusetts metro area and able to join us in person at our Natick, MA satellite office two days per week.

You’re going to love this role if you :

  • Are excited to learn new things and take on new responsibilities in a rapidly changing business environment, including those that go beyond what you’ve done in the past;
  • Believe passionately in the need to decarbonize the transportation sector and are excited by the prospect of pushing yourself and your peers to do everything we can to accelerate our transition to a carbon-free future;
  • Are comfortable managing multiple work-flows simultaneously as we scale up our business and carve out a leading place for New Leaf Energy in the growing EV charging space;
  • Like the idea of figuring out how to permit new technologies and new project types in places that have never seen them before.

  • Site review, zoning and bylaws review, and determining entitlement pathways;

  • Draft permit documentation as necessary (e.g., permitting narratives, exhibits, appendices, etc.);
  • Direct and review design drawings prepared by in-house or external designers.
  • Desired Qualifications

    While no one individual will possess them all, the successful candidate will bring many of the following experiences, skills, and attributes.   • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in civil or mechanical engineering;
  • E.I.T required, P.E. license preferred, but not required;
