Job Summary
We are currently seeking experienced UAS External Pilots (EP) with Fixed Wing Remote Control experiences. Under general direction of the UAS Pilot-in-Charge, this position is responsible for the safe operation of the aircraft if manual flying is required during the critical takeoff and landing phases of flight. This position also supports the configured sensor and communications payloads and operates required mission support components in flight. The EP will assist the GCS Pilot with Mission planning, briefing, execution and debriefings as required. Individuals interested in this position must be willing to travel and conduct flight operations on a regular basis in support of testing, demonstrations, and operations. The EP should also be comfortable performing minor maintenance support duties for the Maintenance Engineer on the K1000ULE UAS.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Fixed Wing UAS remote piloting using various hand controllers and Windows based tablets
- Qualify airfields per aircraft takeoff and landing requirements
- Flight logging and reporting
- Perform system checks and preflight
- Assist the Maintenance Engineers with K1000ULE maintenance requirements
- Work with Engineering and Operations teams to refine procedures and processes
- Must operate payload as required to achieve desired mission impacts.
- Perform payload operator support for planning, operational, and post operational phases.
- Perform real-time remote operation of payload systems to support mission requirements.
- Full understanding of the capabilities and limitations of the mission system payload; work in close coordination with platform operators, leveraging expertise to optimize results.
- Must maintain a broad and up-to-date situational awareness of current mission operations; quickly gain understanding of current mission target environments and associated dynamics; and be familiar with operational methods and infrastructure.
- Acts as the Subject Matter Expert for assigned operational personnel in applying effective tactics, techniques, procedures, policies, and technologies against mission requirements.
- Must have experience in formulating operation procedures, training programs and post mission products to meet customer expectations.
- Conducts needs analysis and confers with managers and supervisors to determine currency, proficiency, and training needs.
- CONUS and OCONUS travel required in support of operational support requirements.
