Designated as a breakthrough therapy and granted orphan drug status by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, gildeuretinol is being evaluated in multiple clinical trials for the treatment of Stargardt disease and geographic atrophy (GA) secondary to age-related macular degeneration (AMD), a leading cause of blindness in the U.S.Position Summary : Reporting directly to the VP of Medical Affairs, the Sr. MSL is responsible for developing and maintaining professional peer-to-peer relationships with key medical experts in ophthalmology / retina. The MSL applies their experience to provide rigorous medical and scientific support of the company’s lead asset in the ophthalmology space. The MSL establishes long-term relationships with the medical and scientific community in the assigned region(s). This is an exciting opportunity to be at the forefront of our mission and make a significant impact on the growth and direction of Alkeus Pharmaceuticals.Primary Responsibilities : Develop and execute regional and national territory plans in line with Alkeus’ medical and scientific efforts.Provide input to cross-functional teams on the latest developments in the ophthalmology space.Take an active role in the development and implementation of the medical affairs plan, including medical congresses, advisory boards and other related events.Contribute to the development and execution of medical strategies to identify, establish and maintain collaborative relationships with Ophthalmologists, Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs), and other relevant stakeholders.Deliver medical education to HCPs through presentations, participation in medical meetings, and other appropriate venues.Review and ensure all work is in compliance with regulatory requirements and company policies, in the dissemination of scientific information and materials.Maintain clinical expertise in the disease space through comprehensive education (i.e. symposiums, scientific workshops, journals) and where applicable, participate in required internal training, and presentations.Deliver on special projects in medical and clinical affairs, taking ownership and leading successful delivery on each.Deliver on other related projects as assigned.Skills and Qualifications : Terminal level degree in life sciences or a related field (MD, PhD, or PharmD, OD, DO)Minimum of 5 years of experience in Medical Affairs, with at least 3 years of experience in an MSL field settingWorking experience in ophthalmologyAdvanced and hands-on working knowledge of relevant regulatory and compliance issues related to MSL responsibilities.Proven track record of establishing, maintaining, and enhancing effective relationships with external expertsProduct launch experience preferredExperience in fast-paced startup environment preferredSkills and Key Success Factors : Highly organized and detail oriented with a passion to deliver quality results.Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with experience translating complex concepts for various audiences.Demonstrated record of intellectual curiosity, innovation and creative problem solving with an entrepreneurial spirit.Ability to lead fast-paced projects with a keen sense of urgency to get the job done well.Evidence of "hands-on" experience and expertise.Proven and successful track record as a team-player and collaborator in small working environments.Highest levels of professionalism, confidence, personal values and ethical standards.Must be a proactive team player, flexible, and have the ability to work in ambiguous situations.Other Relevant Information : Travel : able to travel up to 75% of time including medical conferences, team meetings and other group meetings, which may occur on weekends.#J-18808-Ljbffr
