The Opportunity
Our USGO Heartland, Rock River Valley Area team is evolving to meet the needs of our growing business and we are expanding our presence in Wisconsin to support our measurement and regulation facilities.
We are seeking an experienced Electrical, Instrumentation, & Controls Technician who is proficient in troubleshooting, maintaining, and operating natural gas measurement equipment, compressor station control systems, and other related facilities.
This individual must be a self-starter, capable of working with minimal supervision, who possesses excellent problem solving, communication, and decision-making skills.
What you'll do
- Install, commission, test, repair, and maintain compressor station, meter station, communication systems. and other facilities related to the pipeline system
- Oversee, direct, and perform tasks related to the installation, start up, and repair of measurement and regulation equipment, such as : various types of meters, recording gauges, flow computers, LCEM units, transmitters, relief valves, regulators, valve actuators, pneumatic and digital controllers, filtration devices, odorizers, and gas quality devices (chromatographs and gas samplers)
- Perform routine and major maintenance on natural gas driven compressor units and associated auxiliary equipment
- Troubleshoot, operate, maintain, calibrate, and repair various types of electronic, electric, pneumatic, and hydraulic equipment
- Maintain power, process controls, programmable logic controllers (PLC), electric generation equipment, microwave multiplex equipment, and orifice meters
- Assemble, install, test, and maintain instrumentation, electrical or electronic wiring, equipment, apparatuses, and fixtures, using hand and power tools
- Diagnose malfunctioning systems, equipment, and components using test equipment and hand tools to locate the cause of the breakdown and correct the problem
- Connect wires to circuit breakers, transformers, or other components
- Inspect electrical systems, equipment, and components to identify hazards, defects, and the need for adjustments or repair, ensuring compliance with codes
- Test electrical systems and continuity of circuits in electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures using testing devices such as ohmmeters, voltmeters, frequency generators, and oscilloscopes
- Receive and maintain equipment documentation (blueprints, schematics, line diagrams, technical manuals, operation manuals) and serve as the facility technical resource in their review and use
- Perform diagnostic tests, accuracy tests, calibrations, and replacements of various measurement and regulation equipment
- Compile, prepare, and maintain written records related to DOT auditable inspections, accuracy tests, calibrations, odorant tests, equipment change outs, relief valve tests, and gas quality analysis such as dewpoint levels, specific gravity, and gas samples
- Work closely with field personnel to schedule and properly route gas in the event of pipeline right of way maintenance or an emergency repair to maintain delivery to internal and external customers
- Locate pipelines per One Call and perform valve maintenance
- Perform and witness hydrostatic tests that assure material integrity for operation and installation of facilities
- Complete work orders, enter data into job plans, create new work orders, etc. in SAP
- Other tasks as required
