The Opportunity
Reporting to the Position Title and based in Sugar Grove, OH, the successful candidate will be responsible for supporting pipeline construction activity with welding activities associated with pipeline maintenance. The incumbent will perform various duties on high pressure pipelines.
- This position requires some travel (50%) in support of pipeline construction activities. This position is overtime eligible and may require extended work hours.
- Minimum schedule will be 10-hour days, 4 days per week.

Provide welding, cellulose (mild steel) and low hydrogen, and other construction related support to Construction ServicesParticipate in pre-job planning and staging of equipment and resources prior to executing work activitiesCoordinate work activities and provide active control to third party contractors and able to work with and oversee contractorsWelding branch connections on high pressure natural gas pipeline systems in preparation for hot-tap workShop fabrication welding of piping assemblies and hydro testingAssist and preparation of pre-job documentationJob Safety Analysis (JSA); review and creation of JSA'sEnsure all work tasks and duties comply with TransCanada's Operating Procedures (TOPs), Community, Safety and Environment policies, procedures, and related state legislationProvide support for emergency pipeline repairs to both natural gas and oil pipeline systemsHot tap high pressure pipelinesOther tasks as requiredMinimum Qualifications
High school diploma or GED3 or more years' experience in pipeline construction or related fieldExperience welding on high pressure natural gas and / or oil pipeline systems, cellulose (mild steel) and low hydrogen.High degree of respect for safe work habits and the care and maintenance of toolsKnowledge of labor, safety, and environmental regulationsProven strong planning and organization skillsAbility to work independently and make decisions with minimal directionCapacity to understand company practices and procedures and develop / apply site specific proceduresEffective interpersonal skills and ability to work well in a team environmentTime management skillsWillingness to learn and work towards continuous improvementAbility to work with a computer and interface with management systems for expense preparation, timesheet reporting, and e-mailKnowledge of API 1104 welding regulationsApplicant must demonstrate ability to pass welding test per API 1104 regulations prior to hiringPreferred Qualifications
Post-secondary education in a related field or a welding certificateKnowledge with TD Williamson tapping equipmentFamiliarity with MS Office including Word and Excel or similar softwareThis position requires candidates toHave and maintain a valid driver's license (CDL preferred) and safe driving recordSuccessfully complete a pre-employment medical screening, including drug and alcohol testingBe subject to call out 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and extended workdays and / or workweeks for emergency response purposesFrequent travel to other company locations to support construction activities, which will involve overnight stays away from homeDriving a motor vehicle is an essential job function of this position.
