About this opportunity
Under the direction of the Printing Manager and Printing Operator, the Press Assistant is responsible for assisting in preparing the press and all job components for print jobs.
What you will do

• Follows all TC safety and work procedures to ensure a safe, productive work environment; checks to ensure all safety guards are in place and working properly
• Assists in the operation of a Windmoller & Holsher (W&H) – 10 color flexographic press.
• Assists with setting up and preparing materials specified on the work order
• Checks viscosity of ink on regular basis
• Removes finished film off press, labels, and palletizes finished rolls
• Understands and completes all paperwork related to the press operations
• Maintains quality standards by adhering to GMPs; completes housekeeping checklist
• Performs various cleaning and inspection duties to maintain SQF compliance
• Completes all housekeeping assignments to ensure a clean work environment
• Completes setup and shutdown procedures as defined by standard operating procedures and work instructions
• Cleans aniloxes and printing decks
• Refills and maintains ink supply, and testing ink viscosity
• Participates in continuous improvement initiatives
• Works with co-workers in a positive and constructive manner
• Cross trains with Operator, when needed
• Ability to see colors; visual acuity to see major and minor imperfections in products
• Lifts up to 40 pounds
• Stands, walks, and lift continuously for up to 12 hours
• Completes a minimum of one safety behavior observation/near miss report each month
• Position requires flexibility to include shift changes and overtime; must be able to work 12-hour rotating shifts, weekends, holidays, and overtime, as required
• Regular, predictable, and reliable attendance
• Performs other duties as assigned

What you have to offer

• Highschool diploma or GED required; technical certificate or post secondary education preferred
• Minimum of 1 years’ flexographic printing experience
• Basic computer skills
• Ability to read a tape measure
• Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations
• Ability to read, write, and speak fluent English
