POSITION SUMMARY
The Pediatric Nurse Practitioner (PNP) supports physicians and patients as the organization’s early childhood development champion.
Nurse Practitioner Responsibilities
- Performs physical examinations on pediatric patients presenting with routine uncomplicated and acute medical/surgical conditions to establish baseline health profile.
- Performs and/or assists in the administration of routine diagnostic/laboratory studies, clinical and therapeutic procedures.
- Develops presumptive nursing diagnoses and implements treatment plans on advanced nursing assessment/problem identification consistent with established practice guidelines.
- Support family planning programs to support pregnant mothers on what to expect and do with their newborn child and how to prepare for pediatric visits.
- Work with providers to reinforce the importance of early childhood development surveillance monitoring and how to integrate the information into the care of their pediatric patients up to the age of five.
- Educate and train staff members in ECD basics, developmental screenings, and the specifics of early childhood development.
- Participate and host community outreach events to bring awareness to the community regarding ECD.
- Participate in mobile screenings at TCA’s WIC program sites.
- In conjunction with the Medical Director, establish and implement evidence-based ECD policies and protocols that embrace the whole child and their family.
- Facilitate referrals as necessary for children and their families and conduct follow-up with families.
- Complete reports as required by the Director of Clinical Services.
- Participates in TCA Healthcare’s performance improvement activities.
- Exhibits a positive attitude and good work ethic; works well with others.
- Provides excellent customer service, both internally and externally.
- Adheres to all organizational policies, procedures, and regulations including HIPAA and Confidentiality.
- Maintains professional appearance and attire.
- Punctual and reliable attendance at the assigned work location.
- All other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Active Illinois License in good standing (RN, APRN, Control Sub)
- Completion of an accredited School of Nursing program
- Master’s degree as a clinical nurse specialist
- Active DEA Registration or able to obtain
- Current BLS certification
- Previous experience in a public health setting preferred
