The Brandt Companies were created under the leadership of Barry Moore and Mark Zilbermann in an ever-expanding quest to provide our clients with on-time, in-budget construction service, complete commissioning assistance, and long-term facilities maintenance. What You’ll Do
- Begin to independently manage small-scale design-build and design-assist projects and/or internal facing phases of larger-scale projects.
- Develop proficiency in basic project management skills, and train others:
- Documentation
- Budget Management
- Schedule Development and Management
- Contract Review
- Negotiation
- Design QA/QC Process
- Manage the input and output of accurate project data in Brandt systems.
- Develop and manage design schedules. Become familiar with construction scheduling and how they correlate to design schedules
- Assist in contract review process for contracts between Brandt and customers and subconsultants.
- Create, deliver, and track billings for services rendered.
- Manage the design process by coordination with the engineering and VDC teams in construction document development.
- Assist in plan and specification analysis in order to determine clear and consistent interpretations of construction documents.
- Manage the design QA/QC process to deliver high-quality projects within the prescribed time frames. Provide meaningful feedback on the content on the documents to aid in quality improvement.
- Interface directly with other disciplines, contractors, architects, and other project team members to ensure the delivery of high-quality projects within the prescribed time frames. Make presentations when necessary.
- Assist in determining methods and solutions for complex engineering problems and identification of the most efficient and acceptable resolution.
- Prepare special reports, studies, and statistical analysis per supervisor’s request. May require research, development and/or interpretation of data with little supervision or instruction.
- Perform on-site field surveys to collect or deliver design and engineering data.
- Begin to independently identify design, process and equipment options that can satisfy client requirements, minimize costs and limit potential operational problems.
- Assume a proactive approach to career development. Utilize available resources within Brandt as well as request alternative instruction to help achieve project manager status.
- Perform additional assignments as requested/needed.
- Outstanding organizational skills
- Active EIT Certification preferred
- Must be courteous, professional, diplomatic, and highly motivated
- Exposure to calculations and design
- Exposure to BIM requirements
- Understanding of building codes and standards
- Excellent analytical and technical writing skills
- Excellent verbal communication and presentation skills
- Excellent time management skills
- Ability to effectively lead design efforts on small projects independently
- Ability to work autonomously and in a team environment while adhering to project deadlines
- Ability to develop beginner project managers and engineers
- Advanced computer proficiency, including MS Office
- Familiarity with Autodesk Products
- Exposure to Project Life Cycle
- 4-yr mechanical engineering or construction science degree (or commensurate levels of technical training and related experience)
- 2 years of practical engineering or construction management experience
