Job Summary:
TCS is seeking an experienced Ordnance / Explosive Painter to support ordnance operations at NSWC Crane. The successful candidate will apply CARC coatings using paint spraying systems while operating in a safety-sensitive environment. This role requires the ability to work with forced air respiration systems and follow procedures for ordnance safety. Training for explosive certification will be provided on-site, and passing a DOT physical, pre-employment drug screening, and participation in a random drug testing program are mandatory.
Essential Functions:
- Prepare, mask, and paint surfaces using CARC and other military coatings.
- Apply paint using HVLP and other paint spraying systems in a booth environment.
- Operate under forced air respiration and adhere to all safety protocols.
- Follow detailed work instructions, procedures, and quality control standards.
- Inspect painted surfaces for quality assurance and rework as necessary.
- Support ordnance-related activities in accordance with explosive safety policies.
- Assemble or repair parts or equipment as needed following specific instructions.
- Assist in conducting basic testing, data collection, and maintaining documentation.
Experience and Skills:
- Experience in automotive, industrial, or military painting preferred.
- Familiarity with CARC paint and use of paint sprayers required.
- Comfortable using PPE, including forced air respiration systems.
- Basic mechanical aptitude and ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
- Strong attention to detail and consistent execution of painting techniques.
- Ability to work independently and in team environments in a high-safety environment.
Desired Qualifications:
- Prior experience in ordnance, depot, or military support environments.
- Understanding of explosive safety and hazard protocols.
- Certification or formal training in industrial painting is a plus.
- Explosive Certification / certification may be acquired after employment
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to pass a DOT medical exam.
- Must pass a pre-employment drug screen and participate in a random drug testing program.
- Must be able to wear full PPE including respirators.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in paint booth environments for extended periods.
