Job Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated Cashier/Food Service Worker to join our food service team. The primary responsibility of this role is to handle cash and credit transactions efficiently and accurately while providing excellent customer service. In addition, the Cashier/Food Service Worker will assist in the setup and serving of food from counters and steam tables, and help with cleaning and sanitizing equipment and workstations. This role also involves supporting the retail operation by maintaining supplies, and products, and assisting in cleanup and closure activities.
General Responsibilities:
-Cash Handling and Transactions:
- Operate a cash register/POS system to process cash, checks, and credit payments from customers or employees.
- Ensure accurate ringing of PLU (Price Look-Up) codes and barcode scans.
- Maintain proper security of cash at all times and follow Sodexo's cash-handling policies and procedures.
- Reconcile and verify the accuracy of transactions and operate peripheral equipment for non-cash transactions.
- Food Service and Customer Interaction:
- Provide the highest quality of service to customers at all times.
- Set up and stock beverage areas, grab-and-go items, service ware, condiments, and other assigned areas.
- Prepare and serve food items from counters and steam tables, including setting up stations with entrees, soups, salads, breads, and other food products.
- Replenish food items as needed and break down stations at the end of meal periods.
- Interact with customers in the serving and dining areas to ensure a pleasant dining experience.
- Cleaning and Sanitation:
- Clean and sanitize workstations, counters, steam tables, and other equipment.
- Prepare the dining room for service by wiping tables, vacuuming floors, and cleaning chairs.
- Maintain the cleanliness and appearance of the dining area.
- Safety and Compliance:
- Attend all allergy and foodborne illness in-service training sessions.
- Comply with all Sodexo HACCP policies and procedures, as well as company safety and risk management policies.
- Report all accidents and injuries promptly and participate in regular safety meetings, training, and hazard assessments.
- Additional Duties:
- Brew coffee and tea, and restock other beverage areas as needed.
- Maintain inventory, stock, and requisitions.
- Complete assigned tasks from management daily.
- Participate in training programs (both classroom and virtual) as designated.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand for long periods (up to 8 hours) and walk or move around frequently.
- Ability to reach, bend, stoop, push, and pull.
- Ability to lift to 35 pounds frequently and up to 40 pounds occasionally.
- Good vision, including close, distance, peripheral, and depth perception, with or without corrective lenses.
