Job Description :

The Sr IT Developer provides a broad range of system solutions development to business problems through the development and programming of applications / systems.

Day to day :

Responsible for detailed technical design, development, and maintenance of applications on mainframe platforms. Design and code program; create test transactions and run tests. Conduct analysis of needs and goals for the development and implementation of applications systems. Review, analyze and modify programming systems including encoding, testing, debugging, installation and assess impact on other applications. Role will work closely with other team members to ensure consistency in coding standards and approaches and to optimize any synergy and re-use opportunities. Ensure that solutions adhere to development best practices and architectural principles. Responsible for support of builds as code is promoted from development, system, acceptance, and production environments. Provide technical support to business and testing team during testing phases. Track defects, defect triage and resolution. Ensure required documentation is housed in the project repository and that knowledge transfer occurs. Participate in 24 / 7 / 365 Team Support on a rotating basis.

Must have strong skills and working experience in mainframe MVS, COBOL, JCL Utilities, CICS and databases such as DB2 or IMS.

Depth & Scope :

Performs complex to difficult technical tasks independently

Advanced knowledge of technology, tools, various programming languages, processes, and procedures

Extensive knowledge of the business, enterprise technology areas and / or the organization

Key subject matter expert who consults with and may lead clients and / or project teams on multiple aspects of development issues

Works as the senior or lead developer and coaches / guides team members within area of expertise

Resolves highly complex and multifaceted development related problems

Education & Experience :

Undergraduate degree or Technical Certificate

5-7 years related experience

Preferred Qualifications :

COBOL (mainframe COBOL; coding experience, especially in modifying code)

Assembler

IBM Pervasive Encryption

Familiarity with ICEMAN and DFHSORT (IBM Sort tools)

PEP Experience and Banking background a plus.
