Materials / Yard Specialist :
Materials / Yard Specialist is proficient in shipping, warehousing, and general handling of construction materials. Must possess knowledge of proper inventory management and meet physical requirements – ability to lift 50 lbs. or more on occasion, comfortable working indoors or outdoors for extended periods of time.
Communicates with management on inventory process improvements, lean activities, and materials purchasing. Assists construction crews with daily material disbursement. Enforces proper inventory / equipment organization. Stocks safety department with ample PPE (personal protective equipment).
Responsibilities :
- First point of contact for all material drops, including assisting with under shipments by hand, dolly, or forklift
- Ensures accuracy of pick list, as well as regular inventory reconciliation
- Oversees organization of all materials, supplies, and equipment
- Monitors and reports inventory inaccuracies; including excess, slow, or obsolete materials
- Initiates organizational projects in the shop, office area, parking lot, and amongst equipment
- Organizes yard to allow maximum utilization of resources and space
- Inspects yard equipment and materials regularly to identify needs for repairs or replacement
- Assists with administrative tasks as needed
