Job Title: Refrigeration Service Field Supervisor

Location: Aurora, CO

Position Overview: As a Refrigeration Field Supervisor, you will be responsible for overseeing and coordinating the activities of a team of refrigeration technicians engaged in installing, maintaining, and repairing refrigeration system parts and components. Your role is crucial in ensuring that all refrigeration projects, maintenance, and service calls are completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with industry standards and company policies. You'll provide leadership, guidance, and technical expertise to your team to achieve operational excellence and customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities:

Team Leadership and Supervision:

  • Lead, motivate, and supervise a team of refrigeration technicians, providing guidance, training, and support to ensure high performance and productivity.
  • Assign tasks, schedule work assignments, and coordinate resources to optimize efficiency and meet project deadlines.
  • Conduct regular performance evaluations, provide feedback, and identify opportunities for skills development and career advancement.

Team Management:

  • Oversee the planning, execution, and completion of refrigeration service projects, including retrofit installations, service calls, updates, and maintenance activities.
  • Coordinate with project managers, service managers, contractors, and clients to define project requirements, timelines, and deliverables.
  • Monitor project progress, hours allotted, and assigning proper technician to ensure adherence to schedule and budget constraints.
  • Monitor and delegate scheduling jobs, ordering parts and materials, creating weekly schedules, completing call backs, and create site logs.
  • Read and correct work orders spelling, grammar, punctuation, and accuracy.
  • Organize weekly team schedule and hold technicians accountable. Verify timecards are being submitted and accurate.
  • Review team’s billable hours, PM completion, and close any orders over 14 days.
  • Assign job walks and oversee proper quote submittal to the business development department.
  • Complete monthly quality assurance audits, vehicle, and safety inspections.
  • Perform regular 1-1’s with direct reports, assign monthly homework or skill building, and prepare team weekly call.
  • Perform “check in” with key account customers weekly to verify proper scheduling, needs are met, and satisfaction.
  • Work with each direct report in person monthly.
  • Read and respond to emails within 24 hours to customers, direct reports, managers, and fellow employees.
  • Maintain a field efficiency rating above 80%.
  • Use company playbook to manage time and projects.

Technical Expertise:

  • Demonstrate advanced knowledge and proficiency in refrigeration systems, including commercial and industrial refrigeration equipment such as walk-in coolers, freezers, refrigerated display cases, and HVAC-R systems.
  • Work on and around Ammonia refrigeration systems.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to technicians in troubleshooting complex refrigeration issues, diagnosing faults, and implementing effective solutions. Delegating these tasks as needed to the Lead Technician.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in refrigeration engineering and maintenance.

Quality Assurance and Compliance:

  • Ensure that all refrigeration work meets regulatory requirements, industry standards, and manufacturer specifications.
  • Conduct inspections and quality checks on completed installations and repairs to verify compliance with safety protocols, performance standards, and customer expectations.
  • Implement quality improvement initiatives and corrective actions to address deficiencies and enhance service delivery.

Customer Relations:

  • Serve as a primary point of contact for clients, addressing inquiries, resolving issues, and providing technical assistance as needed.
  • Cultivate positive relationships with customers through proactive communication, responsiveness, and professionalism.
  • Collaborate with sales and customer service teams to identify opportunities for business growth and customer retention.

Safety Management:

  • Promote a culture of safety awareness and adherence to safety protocols among team members.
  • Conduct regular safety meetings, training sessions, and toolbox talks to reinforce safe work practices and hazard mitigation strategies.
  • Investigate accidents, near misses, and safety incidents, and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.

Documentation and Reporting:

  • Maintain accurate records of refrigeration projects, including work orders, service reports, equipment manuals, and inventory logs.
  • Generate comprehensive reports on project status, resource utilization, budget variance, and key performance indicators (KPIs) for management review.
  • Ensure that all documentation is organized, up-to-date, and easily accessible for audit purposes.

Qualifications:

  • Trade school or equivalent experience in a relevant field.
  • Proven experience (typically 5 years) in a service technician role, with demonstrated expertise in servicing and repairing equipment or systems.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to motivate and mentor team members effectively.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities, with a methodical approach to troubleshooting technical issues.
  • In-depth knowledge of safety regulations, codes, and standards relevant to the industry.
  • Proficiency in using diagnostic tools, software applications, and technical manuals.0
  • Attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.

Certifications in relevant technical disciplines are required. Holding and maintaining HAZWOPER, RETA CIRO certification (Refrigeration), Universal EPA 608, and including any additional certifications required for start-up, commissioning, warranty submittals, etc.
