About the Role :

TDI Refrigeration is seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will bring advanced expertise in mechanical engineering design, Ammonia / CO2 / Synthetic refrigeration systems, and CAD drafting with proven leadership experience. This role will offer the opportunity to work closely with clients, lead technical projects, and mentor junior team members while collaborating with a licensed PE on innovative refrigeration and HVAC solutions.

Key Responsibilities :

Engineering Design & Drafting :

Lead the development of refrigeration process flow diagrams and technical schematics in AutoCAD.

Design and model complex 3D piping systems using Inventor 3D.

Advanced Engineering Calculations :

Perform ventilation analysis, refrigeration load calculations, charge analysis, mass-energy balances, and relief studies.

Conduct pipe stress analysis to ensure system safety and efficiency.

Proposal & Project Development :

Develop technical proposals and cost estimates for capital improvement projects.

Work alongside project management from concept through implementation.

Order and provide key project components to the Construction Project Manager.

Operational Optimization :

Improve system designs and assist customers with compliance needs to enhance performance and reduce operational costs.

Team Leadership & Collaboration :

Mentor and guide junior engineers and AutoCAD drafters in technical development.

Foster collaborative relationships with field teams, customers, and senior management.

Vendor & Materials Oversight :

Manage the procurement of materials necessary for project success.

What You Bring :

Required Qualifications :

Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering.

5 years of experience in mechanical design, engineering, and AutoCAD drafting.

3D modeling experience in Inventor 3D.

Expertise in thermodynamics, heat transfer, and refrigeration system design.

Proven experience managing projects from proposal through execution.

Skills & Expertise :

Proficiency in AutoCAD, Inventor, and Microsoft Office.

Strong knowledge of refrigeration system design, mass and energy balances, and thermal system design calculations.

Leadership experience and ability to mentor junior engineers and drafters.

Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.

Strong problem-solving ability and creative design expertise.

Proven track record of improving system design and operational performance.

Preferred Experience :

Direct experience in industrial refrigeration design or HVAC systems.

Previous experience in customer-facing roles such as proposal development and sales support.

Licensing as a Professional Engineer (PE) or progress toward licensure is a plus.
