We are looking for a visionary leader with a strong track record in managing complex transportation systems and leading diverse teams. While a background in civil engineering is desirable, it is not strictly required.
Instead, we are emphasizing :
Leadership Skills :
Proven ability to lead teams through complex operational challenges.
Strong public relations and communication skills, especially when working with stakeholders such as federal / state agencies, local governments, and community groups.
Education :
A degree in civil engineering or a related field is preferred but not required. Candidates with substantial experience in transportation leadership will also be considered.
Transportation Expertise :
Familiarity with transportation planning, design, construction, and maintenance.
Understanding the unique challenges of northern or Arctic environments is a significant advantage
Operational and Strategic Skills :
Competence in managing budgets, personnel, and regulatory compliance.
Experience in developing and implementing strategic plans and innovative transportation solutions.

Negotiable annual salary based on experience.
Minimum Requirements :
Minimum of 5 years of experience in Project Management
A civil engineering degree in road transportation / or related is preferred but not required.
The position is based in Fairbanks, Alaska. Applicants must be willing to relocate / live; relocation assistance is provided if needed
Traveling throughout Alaska is required
