Telecommunications Equipment Operator
We are seeking a skilled Telecommunications Equipment Operator to join our Construction and Service Enablement team at TDS Telecom. As a member of our team, you will play a critical role in building and maintaining cutting-edge fiber optic networks that connect communities nationwide.
Job Description:
The successful candidate will be responsible for performing general construction and maintenance of aerial and buried fiber facilities. This includes operating and maintaining construction equipment, installing, splicing, testing, troubleshooting, and repairing fiber optic facilities using specialized equipment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate various types of construction equipment, including directional drills, trencher/plow/rocksaw, backhoe, or bucket trucks.
- Install, splice, test, troubleshoot, and repair fiber optic facilities using specialized equipment.
- Conduct cable fault acceptance tests, locate defective fiber, and resolve issues efficiently.
- Update GIS, maps, and as-builts; set and label infrastructure like peds, vaults, and handholes.
Requirements:
- 1 years of experience in construction equipment operation, preferably in the telecommunications industry.
- Must have a valid driver's license and be eligible for DOT requirements.
- Must be able to lift/move up to 50 pounds regularly and over 100 pounds occasionally.
