What are the responsibilities and job description for the General Foreman (C) position at TDX?
Sand Point Services (SPS) is recruiting for the position of General Foreman. This is a regular, full-time position located in Columbus, GA. This position reports to the Project Manager and Site Superintendent.
JOB SUMMARY:
The General Foreman directs and manages all on-site construction workers, subcontractors and equipment, enforcing the company’s direction, policies, procedures and safety standards, while meeting construction deadlines and acting as the company representative when the Superintendent is away from the project site. This position also consists of performing tasks involving physical labor on a demolition/construction project, to include, but not limited to, operating hand and power tools of all types, cleaning and preparing sites, setting braces to support demolition, cleaning up rubble and debris. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Interprets, implements and enforces regulatory requirements related to safety, environmental and industry standards;
- Interprets plans, blueprints and sketches of proposed structures in terms of the relevant specifications;
- Prepares reports on project time, equipment, materials and progress;
- Reviews the work of skilled trade’s workers and equipment operators;
- Recommends repairs, supervises the maintenance of tools and equipment and determines work procedures;
- Clean or prepare construction site to eliminate possible hazards;
- Control traffic passing near, in , or around work zone;
- Erect or dismantle shoring, braces, traffic barricades, ramps, or other temporary structures;
- Load, unload, or identify materials, machinery, or tools, distributing them to appropriate locations, according to project plans;
- Measure, mark or record openings or distances to layout areas where work is performed
- Position or dismantle forms for pouring concrete, using saws, hammers, nails or bolts;
- Signal equipment operators to facilitate alignment, movement or adjustment of machinery, equipment or materials.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- High School Diploma or GED;
- Minimum 5 to 7 years’ experience in the construction industry;
- Minimum 3 to 5 years’ experience as a Foreman, or other supervisory role for construction;
- Experience in working on Government contracts;
- Knowledge of construction methods and industry requirements;
- Knowledge of safety standards and industry requirements;
- A valid drivers' license issued by state of residence and in good standing, with no DUI(s) or reckless driving within the last 10 years;
- Must be able to work independently or within a small team as necessary;
- Ability to adjust actions in relation to others’ actions, to give full attention to what other people are saying, and to logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.
