The Machine Maintenance Trainee is responsible for assisting in the repair, maintenance, and troubleshooting of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems on industrial machinery, machine tools, and other equipment. This role also includes supporting maintenance activities for buildings and facilities. The trainee will follow and uphold preventive maintenance schedules and assist in various maintenance tasks to ensure equipment reliability and operational efficiency.

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

  • This position reports to the Maintenance Lead/Supervisor.
  • Performs a preventative maintenance program for machinery and equipment.
  • Prioritizes accurate documentation and record-keeping in maintenance software to track repairs, preventive maintenance, equipment history, parts inventory, and initiates purchase orders for replacement parts or equipment as needed.
  • Follows all required maintenance safety procedures while performing duties, always prioritizing personal safety and the safety of others.
  • Identifies and addresses potential safety hazards while conducting maintenance tasks.
  • Visually inspects and listens to machines and equipment to locate causes of malfunctions.
  • Dismantles machines and equipment to gain access to problem area.
  • Inspects and measures parts to detect wear, misalignment, or other problems.
  • Removes and replaces worn or defective parts of drive mechanism or hydraulic system.
  • Realigns and adjusts components such as spindles and clutches.
  • Locates damaged air and hydraulic pipes on machines, and measures, cuts, and threads, and installs new pipe.
  • Starts machine and equipment to test operation following repair.
  • Installs power supply wiring and conduit for newly installed machines and equipment.
  • Connects power supply wires to machine and equipment.
  • Diagnoses malfunctioning apparatus such as transformers, motors, and lighting fixtures and replaces damaged or broken wires and cables.
  • Replaces faulty electrical components on machines.
  • CNC troubleshooting and repair.
  • Performs interior and exterior facility repairs as needed to maintain building integrity and functionality.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education and/or Experience

High School graduate or GED

2-5 year’s experience in machine maintenance in manufacturing environment

Mechanical skills

Electrical skills

Facilities experience

Related technical training a plus

CNC, PLC experience a plus

1st SHIFT HOURS

7:00a.m.-3:30p.m. M-F
