Job Overview
The Manufacturing Engineer will implement, develop, and optimize production methodologies in the manufacturing operations of TE Connectivity. This engineer will be responsible for optimizing product flow though the factory though process optimization that may include tool /fixture selection, line layouts, ergonomic study, material presentation, and other relevant factors. This position will interface with design, test, and quality engineering to solve problems, improve manufacturability, and implement continual improvement. The Manufacturing Engineer will sustain products with cost reduction and yield improvements. In addition, the Manufacturing Engineer will work with quality to compile and evaluate data to determine appropriate limits and variables for process or material specifications.
This is a 2nd shift schedule: Monday-Friday 3pm-11:30pm
Responsibilities
Adhere to quality and compliance standards to ensure safe and effective use of the products TE manufactures.
Create and maintain Manufacturing Instructions, routings, and associated processes.
Develop expertise in manufacturing processes. Understand process capabilities through critical data analysis and in depth understanding of the product.
Develop and modify line layouts, including material flow, waste reduction, and ergonomics, utilizing Lean Manufacturing best practices. Participate in the transition of a product from concept to pilot line production and into mass manufacturing.
Lead CER (Capital Expenditure Request) process, developing cost estimates for tooling and applicable manufacturing processes.
Lead projects specific to cost savings (TEBIT) to maximize yield, capacity, and capability. Analyze and optimize production processes to ensure safety while maximizing OEE in cost effective means while driving to achieve world-class quality levels.
Lead the diagnosis of issues found during the part manufacturing process and drive corrective action back to source, resulting in root cause identification and elimination. Utilize structured problem-solving techniques such as DMAIC, Ishikawa, Five Why (5W) and Eight Disciplines (8D), Lean, Six Sigma, etc.
This position requires access to information that is subject to stringent controls under the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) or Export Administration Regulations (EAR).
What your background should look like:
Required:
Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering OR minimum 3 years experience in a manufacturing or engineering role
Data collection and analysis experience. Ability to develop data driven root cause analyses and solutions.
Must have good written and verbal communication skills, be well-organized, ability to work in a fast-paced self-directed environment.
Understanding of Bill of Materials, Routings, Manufacturing Execution Systems, & Change Management
Strong problem-solving skills and an aptitude for learning systems quickly. Able to utilize structured problem-solving techniques such as DMAIC, Ishikawa, Five Why (5W) or Eight Disciplines (8D). Able to resolve high level performance issues into addressable actions.
Computer skills with MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word) & CAD.
Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability interact well within a cross-functional team.
Strong analytical skills and attention to details.
Preferred:
Minimum 5 years supporting a manufacturing environment with progressive levels of responsibility.
3-5 years in Fiber optics preferred
Experience with computer programming languages and software packages, specifically when dealing with maintaining/improving databases such as MES systems.
Ideally experienced in electrical connectivity solutions, tooling design, and/or wire crimping technologies
Lean/Six Sigma Green or Black belt
Strong motivational, leadership and communication skills
Advanced Engineering degree or MBA
Physical

Ability to lift up to 35 pounds
Extended periods of computer usage

COMPENSATION
Competitive base salary commensurate with experience: $83,000-124,600 (subject to change dependent on physical location)
Posted salary ranges are made in good faith. TE Connectivity reserves the right to adjust ranges depending on the experience/qualification of the selected candidate as well as internal and external equity.
