Job Overview

TE Connectivity's Manufacturing Engineering Teams are process leaders for stamping, molding or assembly related topics, ensuring the processes are running at optimum levels for quality and output. They are experts in mold tooling, die tooling, machining, and assembly techniques, possessing extensive knowledge of the associated manufacturing processes which may include the optimization and standardization of stamping / molding / assembly or other processes within the manufacturing environment. They design and develop manufacturing process and automation platforms and apply them for the realization of new product developments as well as optimization of existing products already in production. The Teams also support Product Development in the selection and optimization of tools for piece part production and the selection of the most suitable manufacturing concepts relative to planned manufacturing quantities, quality requirements and manufacturing location.

TE Connectivity is looking for a hands-on manufacturing and process development engineer in our Rapho Park manufacturing facility in Manheim, PA. This position will report to the Operations Manager in Rapho Park.

Please note: This position may involve working with technical data, technology, software/source code, hardware or other items (collectively "items) subject to U.S. and non-U.S. export control laws and regulations. Under these regulations, it may be necessary for TE to verify a candidate's national origin and/or citizenship status to determine whether a U.S. or other government export license is required prior to releasing its technologies to the candidate.

Responsibilities

  • Support production as a technical leader on multiple production lines by solving technical problems,
  • Addressing quality issues and improving productivity
  • Handle multiple responsibilities and react quickly to changing priorities with flexibility and willingness.
  • Develop and maintain manufacturing processes and manufacturing documentation.
  • Lead the resolution of quality issues and process deviations.
  • Lead scrap reduction, rate improvement, and cost reduction projects.
  • Lead process/product development projects including sample runs.
  • Manage capital equipment projects: specifying, quoting, purchasing and implementing new equipment.
  • Implement Six-Sigma manufacturing practices and metrics.
  • Provide Six-Sigma guidance in support of planned events, such as Kaizen.
  • Maintain strong attention to detail, while working with a sense of urgency.
  • Complete quotes to accurately estimate machining rates, cost of required equipment and lead times.
  • Develop and document manufacturing process plans (manufacturing steps, line balancing, staffing)
  • Participate in design reviews to optimize a design's manufacturability.
  • Lead and participate in process reviews, PFMEAs and IDRs.
  • Determine costing and rate for new product introductions/development
  • Work closely with the plant supply chain team on material suitability for the machining process
  • Review production schedules, engineering specifications, process flows, and other information to understand methods and activities in manufacturing
  • Draft and design layout of equipment, materials, and workspace to illustrate maximum efficiency, using drafting tools
  • Measure and fix cycle time standards for new and existing processes based on MOST.
  • Implementing Digital Manufacturing tools (1Factory, OEE, etc.)


What your background should look like:

  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering, or equivalent experience.
  • Communicate at all levels of the organization.
  • Experience with Creo Parametric and Product Data Management software.
  • Record of achieving cost savings and measurable operational improvements.
  • Ability to travel to vendors and customers (up to 10%.)
  • Experience with CAD software.
  • Ability to lead cross-functional teams and encourage cultural change.
  • Ability to educate and train team members to improve productivity.
  • Hands-on experience with continuous improvement techniques in Six Sigma.
  • A proven record of achieving cost savings and measurable operational improvements.
  • 10 years of engineering experience in an industrial environment involving aerospace connectors, harnesses, and components.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and be able to


Preferred Experience:
  • SAP manufacturing and purchasing.
  • Experience with machining, including CNC and Rotary Transfer style equipment
  • Experience working with vendors (tooling, chemical, etc.) to improve process
  • Experience creating Bill of Materials/Routers within SAP
  • Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt is a plus.

COMPENSATION
Competitive base salary commensurate with experience: $119,800 - 179,800 (subject to change dependent on physical location)
Posted salary ranges are made in good faith. TE Connectivity reserves the right to adjust ranges depending on the experience/qualification of the selected candidate as well as internal and external equity.
