Aboutthe Role
The District Chief Medical Officer(CMO) is a senior leadership role within the district. The primary purpose ofthis role is to provide strong, visible, professional and clinical leadership,and to motivate and inspire medical colleagues, and wider health workforce. TheDistrict CMO is jointly responsible for ensuring the delivery of safe,high-quality patient care, developing clinical strategies, and achieving HealthNew Zealand - s goals related to the medical workforce. This role involves closecollaboration with colleagues to meet these objectives, modelling an interprofessionalapproach. You will be responsible for the appropriate implementation ofnational and regional strategies, policies, and standards within the localdistrict. The District CMO has a critical role in providing and demonstratingleadership including accountability for managing health resources. Working in collaboration with other clinicalchiefs, leaders and management, the role will develop and sustain strongclinical governance functions, creating an environment where clinicalexcellence will flourish.

The District ChiefMedical Officer is a senior clinical leadership role based within the district.Reporting directly to the Group Director of Operations (GDO) with a dottedprofessional line to Regional Chief Medical Officer (once appointed).
