Position: Stipend – Drama Coach

Position Summary: This is a stipend role for an individual to lead out-of-school-time drama activities including the direction and management of theater and musical-theater productions for high school students.
Typical Responsibilities:
- Conduct engaging and well planned after school drama classes and rehearsals.
- Present performances of high musical and theatrical quality for the school and community, including choir concerts, straight plays, and musical theater works.
- Program music and theater works of high quality in a variety of genres that will push students to grow as musicians/actors and also allow for assured success.
- Collaborate with teachers in associated subjects to extend students skills and development.
Essential Physical Demands:
- Constant lifting 5 to 20 pounds
- Frequent lifting 20 to over 50 pounds
- Constant standing, walking
- Frequent bending, reaching, squatting, climbing, kneeling.
- Occasional crawling, sitting, stooping.

Reports to: High School Athletics & Activities Director
Candidate Profile
Education and Certification:
Bachelor’s degree in media arts, theater education, or related field preferred.
Experience and Skills:
Previous experience teaching, producing, and directing youth theater.
- Ability to connect with students and develop strong, positive student-teacher relationships built on mutual trust, respect, and high expectations
- High levels of energy and enthusiasm, to instill a love of drama, theater, and performance in participating students
- Exceptional organizational and communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to both recruit and retain students in a performing arts program
- Flexibility, with a keen sense of humor
- Comfort and experience in both music/theater performance and education settings
- Desire to cultivate a theatrical culture within a school
- Desire to build a choir and theater program into the high school grades
- Ability to effectively and respectfully engage with students, parents, teachers, school administrators, and volunteers from the community.
