We have partnered with a Dorchester, MA area charter school that is looking for professional long-term substitutes for the following grades and subjects : Special Education 7th - 12th Grade Educator.
This person is responsible for providing Special Education services and accommodations to our middle and high school students, including inclusion and small group support. This position is best suited for an individual with a deep understanding of Special Education practices and procedures. Candidates must have the ability to inspire students as a positive adult role model while maintaining an orderly and safe classroom environment.
Responsibilities include (but are not limited to) :
Hours : Monday through Friday; Middle School 8 : 15am-4 : 45pm, High School 8 : 45am-5 : 15pm
- Implement school-wide procedures to maintain a school culture of high academic and behavioral expectations.
- Develop IEP goals for mandated students, track IEP goal progress, and in conjunction with classroom teachers, develop accommodations for reading curriculum and deliver rigorous, standards-based lessons and assessments.
- Serve as direct service provider for approximately 12-15 students.
- Collect and use data to inform reading instruction of students.
- Collaborate with grade level colleagues and other specialists to ensure that every student shows achievement gains.
- Cultivate positive relationships with colleagues, students, parents, and families.
- Use of direct, multisensory programs such as Orton Gillingham and / or Wilson Reading.
